The Sippers' Forward Guard: Mary Ann's First Week in Provence

on Wed, 06/19/2013 - 07:46

It's Wednesday so we're with our guest bloggers, the  Sketchers in Provence.  Mary Ann Miller, the leader of this group has been there nearly a week.  Before she left, her friend Maggie, an artist who lives in Provence, and in who's home the group will be painting one afternoon sent this picture of her and her surroundings, to give the group a sense of what they were coming to!

Mary Ann wasted no time, going to Roussilon, one of the favorite destinations for painters because of its stunning red earth,  and working "en plein air"

She also stocked up on some of the "necessities of life" at

Untourist of the Week: Edythe Salzman

on Tue, 06/18/2013 - 10:00

Edythe Salzmann and Jean Weisel take Untours with us nearly every year.  This week they share the spotlight together as Untourists of the Week.  We asked them for one picture.  They sent four, and they were all so good, we couldn't choose!  Don't they just look like the best of friends having the best of times? (Above: Edythe and Jean in Switzerland,  Below Left:  Edythe in Switzerland, Right: Edythe & Jean in Greece, Bottom: Edythe in Switzerland, again!

Tell us a little bit about your most recent Untour and why you chose that particular destination?

The Sippers are nearly there: our guest-blogging, sketchers in Provence get ready, set , go!

on Wed, 06/12/2013 - 11:49

Our dear friend, Mary Ann Miller is leaving for Provence today!  She is the intrepid leader of the "Sketchers in Provence" group, otherwise known as the SIPPERS.

She's going ahead of the rest of the group to scope out some stuff, but they've been busy this week;

  • Mary Ann got a nifty new set of colored pencils she had to find room in her suitcase for
  • Most of the group got together to dye silk scarfs together....which they will wear on their trip.  FUN!

  • They're all teachers and one is still in school till the last minute.  She posted the minimal preparations she's had time for thus far.

Untourists of the Week: Robert Farkas & Barbara Mellerski-Farkas

on Tue, 06/11/2013 - 10:00

Tell us a little bit about your most recent Untour and why you chose that particular destination?

Our last Untour experience took us to Atrani on the Amalfi Coast for two weeks and then for another two weeks to Locarno, Switzerland to enjoy the beautiful Ticino Region. Both areas suited our needs to for a combination of wonderful scenic views and historic venues.

Why did you choose to go there?

We love Italy and a previous excursion to Cinque Terre while staying in the Tuscany town of Calci through Untours, made us want to experience the Amalfi Coast.
