You’ll mix with locals, pick up a little slang and certainly test your mental arithmetic when calculating whether that round of chèvre is a bargain or a rip-off. One could spend days exploring the numerous options, so we’ve compiled a list of our favorites (foodie ones first of course).

1. Bergheim is a delightful, flowered village and, in our eyes, the epitome of Alsatian charm with its picturesque, half-timbered homes, striking town gate and ideal location along the Route des Vins.
 
2. The Haut-Koenigsbourg Castle - Though the original 12th century castle was destroyed and rebuilt, it adheres faithfully to the architecture of the time.

Meet the Untours Giveaway Runner-up: Kathryn Cooper, sustainability enthusiast, practitioner and educator.
 
We had two fantastic Untours Giveaway nominees this year. And although Father Tom won the vote, it was a very tough choice for us here at Untours!
 
Our runner-up, Kathryn Cooper, is the founder and Chief Learning Officer of the Sustainability Learning Centre (SLC), an organization dedicated to spreading green practices and knowledge. 
 
Cooper grew up in Canada and started her career training and developing in the food technology industry at the University of Guelph.
