Vacation Apartment Hack: How to Feel at Home in Someone Else’s

on Tue, 02/23/2016 - 15:49

When opting to vacation in an apartment instead of a hotel there are many advantages. Firstly, it makes it easier to immerse in the culture if you’re not returning to a sea of other tourists every evening to a large, corporate-feeling hotel. Secondly, nothing can replace the warmth and welcoming environment an apartment can have over a single room with cups covered in plastic bags. Thirdly, you’ll probably get more space for your money since you’re renting a home over one room. Renting an apartment through Untours over a hotel is a no-brainer, but how to do make someone else’s home feel like your own? Especially if you’re staying in that apartment for a week or more, it is important to settle in and make it your own.

Top 7 Things to Do in London

on Thu, 10/15/2015 - 15:49
Big Ben in London on an Untour

London is the largest city in Europe, and in my opinion, the best city in the world. With the perfect collision of old and new, London has an intriguing history and is filled with charm. Living in London I often overhear tourists’ conversations on the Tube (the underground transportation system) regarding their experiences. Be it a positive reaction to walking around Hyde Park or a feeling of boredom regarding the Tate Modern. In order to avoid the more unfortunate reviews, I’ve narrowed down all of the amazing things to do in London to seven absolute must-sees for any trip.

London Like a Local: What you Should and Should Not Do in the English Capital

london like a local untours guide
Don't stick out like a sore thumb! Here are some quick tips to help you make a good impression in London, and to make merry with the locals.

You Should…
Stand on the right side of the tube escalators and walk on the left. Londoners abhor when people stand on the left.

You Should…
Visit a pub outside of the touristy hubs (Leicester Square, Oxford Street, Trafalgar Square, etc.). Find a pub filled with more locals than tourists and sit down for a pint and enjoy classic pub food. It is an incorrect stereotype that pub food is bad.

The Perfect London Picnic

Hyde Park Albert Memorial

London is filled with great international cuisine options across the city, but one of the best ways to enjoy good London weather and eat like the locals is to head to the local grocer and pull together a picnic. Having grown up in a fairly rural area filled with fields, trees and an overall abundance of nature, regular picnics for me are a must in London. Few people know that 60% of the city is actually green space, be that parks, lawns, roof gardens, etc. One way to experience the city like a local is to plan the Perfect London Picnic.
