Foundation Fridays: We're Cookin'!

Submitted by

The latest heat wave here in Media, PA, certainly has us cookin’. So does our recent investment in EcoZoom, makers of cookstoves that require 70% less fuel than most and produce fewer dangerous fumes. Thus far, EcoZoom has sold over 70,000 stoves in 14 developing countries.

These smart, simple stoves were developed by the Oregon nonprofit, Aprovecho Research Center, to address deforestation and major health issues created by traditional, often make-shift stoves and open fires.

The EcoZoom staff, which includes a native Kenyan, is currently out of its Portland, OR, office, and in Kenya launching its products there. We’re with them in spirit!

Here’s to this young and savvy company that’s already a Certified B Corporation, like Untours.

“The only real stumbling block is fear of failure. In cooking you’ve got to have a what-the-hell attitude.” Julia Child
