Garden View

Cozy one-bedroom in Stirling

Stay in Central Scotland

Set below Stirling Castle, Garden View is a cozy one-bedroom vacation rental in a part of town that offers easy walking access to all the major sights. This charming ground-floor addition to an elegant Victorian town house in Stirling’s King’s Park conservation area was recently renovated.

It is made up of a light-filled living room, smartly designed eat-in kitchen, bedroom with separable twins, and a small office corner, plus a good size bathroom with a shower stall and Victorian cast-iron tub. The bedroom has two skylights with blackout blinds, but no other window. The kitchen has a window that lets in light from the sun-filled living room. The living room / sun lounge features a large leather sofa, TV, CD & DVD players, and AC. It leads to a lovely and tranquil garden patio. The pleasant garden is shared by the owner and his family. Ceiling lights in several rooms and large windows in the living room allow for plenty of light. The apartment is attractively furnished and nicely decorated.

Garden View is small, but boasts quite an array of amenities, including Wi-Fi, washer/ dryer, microwave and even a small freezer. It has its own driveway & parking, and is only a 12-minute walk to the Stirling train station if you choose to go car free. Shops and restaurants are within a 5-10 minute walk.

The Garden View apartment is located in a small annex on the left side of the main house. The driveway is reserved for Garden View guests. The friendly, outgoing owner and his family live in the adjacent main house.

Stirling, UK - Central Scotland, Home of Garden View

They don’t call it the Gateway to the Highlands for nothing. Stirling is surrounded by lush, lovely countryside, with magnificent views along the River Forth.

Home to 86,000 people, Stirling is made up of an old town and a modern part with shops, banks, a diverse selection of restaurants, cafes, pubs, and a shopping mall.

The well preserved Old Town is a treasure trove of historic buildings and cobbled streets winding up to the Castle, and this is where you will want to spend your time. The castle, considered by many to be the best in Scotland, and its rich programming offer brilliant Medieval living history.

Stirling is also home to Scotland’s best surviving town walls. The Church of the Holy Rude has been the town’s parish church for 600 years and is where James VI was crowned in 1567. The National Wallace monument commemorates William Wallace, the hero of the Scottish movement for independence (as depicted in the movie Braveheart) who defeated the English at Stirling Bridge in 1297. Though his heroics are significant, it was Robert the Bruce’s defeat of the English in 1314 at the Battle of Bannockburn that finally established a lasting Scottish nation. You can visit the Bannockburn Heritage Centre on the outskirts of town to learn more.

Stirling has a public library with internet access and a tourist office in the historic district. Music lovers can find traditional music sessions in one of the many pubs, our favorite being the Wednesday night session at the Settle Inn.

The city is on a train line with frequent service to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Both are an hour or less by train, and the region offers great highway access with many beautiful day trip options by car like St. Andrews, Callander, Loch Lomond, Inverness, and Oban.

Bob was a great host! He gave us ideas and places to visit. We loved his garden out back. He had tea and scones waiting for us upon our arrival. Along w a great introduction and conversation.

The accommodations were comfortable and well appointed. The location was perfect, a beautiful city with lovely areas to walk , convenient to shops, restaurants, and food shopping. Stirling has it all: history, the best castle, stonework, gardens, architecture, incredible views from the Wallace monument, easy train and bus access.

★★★★★

The apartment provided a very comfortable and charming setting for two people. Everything we needed plus many extras were available in our apartment attached to the house of our host. The location was in a central neighborhood just below the castle and within a 10-15 minute walk of the trains, buses, shopping and restaurants. Our host was very accommodating with his time and advice and made us feel very much at home.

★★★★★

We especially enjoyed our host, Bob and his two boys. The view out the back to the garden was lovely. The plums on the trees delicious and plentiful. This apartment was handy to everything in Stirling and easy walking distance to restaurants, train station and most of the sites like Stirling Castle.

★★★★★

The apartment was warm, cozy, and attractively eclectic! The owners are obviously collectors, and I found their mix of styles quite interesting. We were able to fully enjoy a beautiful view of the lush and verdant garden from the sunroom. The driveway parking was a bonus. It was great to not have to seek out on-street parking after full days of sightseeing! A vase filled with fresh yellow roses also welcomed us-- a nice touch!
