Welcome to another special edition of the Eurozine, this time focusing on some of our late season availabilities.  Much to our surprise, some of our favorite properties in our most popular region --  Dordogne, in the southwest of France -- are still open this late in the vacation planning season.   

We have been surprised a lot lately.  The RIGHT Vacation Rental, Untour's "property only" website, has a large range of properties all over the Continent, but it has been Dordogne which has been the surprise hit of our first year of operation.  While we are delighted at how many of you have booked in this region, sprinkled with golden stone villages and chateaux, we are surprised that, despite robust bookings in this area,  some of the best properties are still largely available this far into the planning season. 

So consider this an invitation to browse among the undiscovered treasures.  We know how much people have loved these locations.  We know that in all of the cases, our hosts are welcoming, interesting people, happy to help and deeply knowledgeable about the region.  That's why we treasure these properties. 

We wanted to let you in on the rare chance to choose properties that are top-rated, but still have some openings for this year.

Three apartments, each with a quiet setting, comfortable, modern furnishings on the property of a beautifully restored water mill, excellent hosts and a gorgeous town down the road.  "Pigeonnier" is the word in French for the pigeon house....and for cute little houses that look like the perfect place to perch, like the one pictured above,top right.

This is the biggest puzzle of our season.  Why is the "jewel in the crown"...one of our very best apartments anywhere still this available, at this time of year?  This place gets  rave reviews from all who stay there.   Oh well, our puzzle is your good fortune!   Located in a truly magnificent setting, mere minutes from Sarlat, and overlooking 30 hectares of prairies, valleys, and woods on all sides. The accommodation itself is a dream house--clean, comfortable, well equipped, and beautifully decorated. (Did we mention another wonderfully friendly host...this one French, but with great English and wonderful taste.)

The wonderful French host of the Artist's Cottage, above, has a second property and this one is a rarity because of its location.  It is within the walls of one of the tiny medieval towns for which Dordogne is famed.  Although there are many properties you can find in Domme, to find one right in the center of the town (a place whose beauty makes it a magnet for sightseers,) but situated in a quiet spot is truly remarkable.
