Hi ,

I
hope as we head into the holiday season that you are taking the time to
not only think of all your loved ones, but to think of your own wishes
and desires as well. Have you started to imagine what kind of a year you
want 2011 to become and what adventures might be part of that plan?
I've been thinking of what to do for New Years
Eve. It's honestly never been a holiday that I celebrate by going to
parties or staying up to watch the ball drop. New Year's Eve often
becomes about family and travel. As much as I love the time together,
the holiday season can be tiring! There is so much cooking, cleaning,
and wrapping of presents to be accomplished. Often there are guests
arriving at various times and, at our house, at least, many late nights
of playing board games (Settlers of Catan, anyone?) and drinking wine.
The fact is that though my mind yearns for adventure, my body yearns for
some peace and quiet.
So, instead
of heading off somewhere during these holiday times, I'm letting my mind
do the traveling and dreaming of vacations in the spring and
summer. Treasures nearby abound and Quebec City is one of them! A
little piece of Europe in North America; the walled jewel of Canada
beckons with its cobblestone streets, bountiful nature and of course the
exotic feeling of speaking French without having crossed an ocean. It
might just be the perfect destination...
Wishing you warm holiday evenings with your loved ones, Lotta Rao Eurozine Editor

American Idol,
the singing contest on TV, has an average of 132 product placements per
episode! Little did we know! That, of course, doesn't even count the
commercials. The placements are subtle, such as the judges drinking from
Coca Cola cups, but most of us apparently take them in and are
influenced by them.
So,
this holiday season the Untours Foundation suggests we claim our own
choices when selecting products to buy. We'd like to suggest - through
overt product placement - two of our loan recipients: Servv International and Divine Chocolate USA.
