Oia
A town at the tip of the legendary
Greek island of Santorini, and perhaps the most
photographed destination in the world.
What Frommers.com says about Oia:
"The real wonder is that Santorini
itself meets and exceeds all glossy
picture-postcard expectations. Like an enormous
mandible, Santorini encloses the pure blue waters
of its caldera, the core of an ancient volcano.
Its two principal towns, Fira and Oia, perch at
the summit of the caldera, their whitewashed
houses resembling from an approaching ship a
dusting of new snow on the
mountaintop."
What recent visitors
say about Oia:
"…it is
obvious. You can NOT miss sunset in Oia. Even if
it is crowded. Buses leave Fira in the afternoon
to arrive to Oia for the sunset and return 30
minutes after sunset. It is worth... even in high
season. Find a place to seat in the old castle,
near to the mill, or in any of the streets right
in the cliff, and just relax, and enjoy... "Maria, from Spain, on
www.VirtualTourist.com
"Last year, we climbed down
the hill from Oia, to the little harbor at the
bottom of the crater, called Amoudia. There
was a wonderful little ‘primitivo’ restaurant,
TABEPNA EPHNH, or Taverna Erini, in English....We
went down the goat trail and ended up cliff
climbing along over to Amoudia, until a friendly
Greek fisherman rescued us in his caique."

We
loved Oia! Beautiful white-washed houses,
hotels, shops, and restaurants that cling to the
side of the crater that is Santorini. The
town at the top as you get off the tram or climb
the stairs is also worth exploring. I envy
you. We really want to go back. Kelly, on Google Groups
Hvar
Town
on Hvar
An island off the
coast of Croatia, known for its sun, its
celebrities and the unforgettable scent of
lavender.
What the New York Times Says about
Hvar: “Nowhere is the
tourist board's touted "Magical Croatia" brand
more fitting than on Hvar, where they give names
to the wind but not the streets, where children
are said to fly and the richest man in the world
has to wait for his latte during fjaka,
when the island tucks in for its afternoon siesta.
Steven Dougherty, July 17, 2005,
NY Times
What recent visitors say about
Hvar:
"It is said that the island of
Hvar gets more sunshine than any other part of
Croatia. Our travels to Hvar confirmed that. We
had beautiful, sunny weather each day of our
visit. The island has a temperate climate,
relaxing environment, interesting history and
great food and wine…Karen from Virtual
Tourist.com
"The
largest beach in the southern coast of the island
is Dubovica!…This bay has the typical form of
half-moon, the beach is made of white pebbles and
on the right side there is the smallest village I
never saw in my life: just a small church and 4 or
5 stone houses…The sea is so clear and blue that
you can't stand on the beach without feeling the
impulse to dive and have a bath!" Chiara from

Alghero
on
Sardinia
This ancient town on Sardinia's 'Coral
Coast', a mix of Italian and Catalan
culture, offers a fantastic display of
architecture, a colorful harbor and a spider
web of streets. Superb restaurants can be
found around every corner.
InItaly.com says this
about Sardinia:
“Its coastline is
probably Europe's most spectacular. Its waters
teem with fish and shellfish. Its broad valleys
turn into golden oceans of wheat in summer...large
flocks of sheep that feed on pungent wild herbs
and produce a cheese your palate will never
forget”
What recent visitors say about
Alghero:
“To visit ancient cities like
beautiful Alghero (one of my very favourite places
on earth) with old Spanish architecture, old
cobble stoned streets, the huge forts and stone
defences built around the city centre to protect
it from sea invaders, it’s magnificent beaches and
sparkling seas now make it one of the great
holiday attractions in Sardinia.” Trevor Axley
A unique language and culture
school in the center of Alghero helps the
visitor learn the Italian language while gaining a
unique insight into Sardinian culture. Taking the
language out of the classroom and onto the streets
of Alghero, all five senses are activated during
the learning process – not only do you listen and
speak, but you eat, sleep and breathe Sardinia. A
weekly crash course for tourists, called
AllegraMente, meets in the late afternoon course
is designed to give visitors an enticing taste of
the Italian language and life.

Elegance, simplicity and an
unbelievable view are three things that make this
place special. These twin villas are two separate
villas, but rented together, making the villa
perfect for an extended family or two couples. The
style is fantastic but must always take a back
seat to the truly unforgettable view of the
caldera and the sea 300 meters below.
