Castelluccio di Norcia Trek-A17


3 hours of hiking with an experienced guide in the Sibylline Mountains. Meet at Norcia and drive with guide up to Castelluccio. The area is known for cheese making, pork meat curing, black truffles and tiny lentils, which are grown on the high plains. As soon as the plain opens out you enter into another world compared to the rest of Umbria. Here, nature is wild and rough, altitude of Castelluccio is 1452 m, this is mountain land. We stop to illustrate the most important features of the plains and for photos. Leave the car in the remote village of Castelluccio and walk to the springs in Val di Canatra and down to the Pian Perduto. A part of it is wetland with very interesting rock formations and an incredible variety of birds. No houses, no people, pure wilderness. Reasonably easy walking difficulty but walk cannot be shortened. Cost: €25 per person, minimum 4 people; €15 for each extra person (total cost divided equally among participants).

Extensions: Walk as described above plus services of guide to visit Norcia (home of St Benedict, fabulous black truffle and cured pork products) at €40 per person, minimum of 4 people (total cost divided equally among participants) and extra costs as follows: Lunch in Castelluccio approx. €25 or Truffle lunch in Norcia approx € 40.
