The von Moos (pronounced "Fone Mose") Upper vacation rental in the pretty little village of Giswil is a modern interpretation of traditional alpine style. Beautifully appointed in white pine, it is bright, cheerful and inviting. The eat-in kitchen with its corner bench and pine wood beams is a very cozy spot. A balcony, accessible from the master bedroom and the living room, overlooks the broad valley of Giswil and the alpine foothills in the west. Entrance to the apartment is from the second floor level of the house, requiring just 2 short flights of inside stairs. Heat (when needed) is supplied by a self-adjusted storage heating system. Fifty yards behind the house is the ruin of a small 13th-century castle tower. The popular landlords live on the floor above and maintain a second vacation rental apartment on the ground floor of their home. Stores, restaurants, bank, tennis courts and the train station are all within a 10 minute-walk, which–- except for the last 50 yards uphill–- is flat and easy.
