Sunflower is a charming vacation rental apartment, located on a beautiful farm less than 10 miles from Assisi. Situated on the ground floor of a thoughtfully restored farm building, the apartment has typical country details, like tile floors and brickwork. A dramatic archway dominates the living room, which is small and comfortably furnished. The kitchenette has no oven (but has a stove top). The modern bathroom has a stall shower. The bedroom holds a double bed and has beamed ceilings. And doors lead from the apartment out onto a beautiful private, covered veranda, done in hand-made bricks; it is perfect for al fresco dining.
It is on an historic property, which is dominated by a dramatic tower that dates back to the 12th century. And its modern amenities are extensive: On the immediate grounds you will find a beautiful swimming pool and a “healing garden” with herbs and a fountain. Elsewhere on the grounds (a very short drive), you will find a farm restaurant serving traditional Umbrian fare. Other amenities include table tennis, a bocce court, a ceramics studio and bicycles for guests to use. The owner offers occasional olive-oil tastings and is eager to talk about his biodynamic mode of organic farming; guests can buy the farm’s olive oil, wine and other products.
The farm is central located--just 3 miles from Spello, and within a half-hour drive of Spoleto and Perugia. The quaint village of Cannara (5 minutes or an easy bike ride away) offers pleasant options for local shopping and dining. Il Salice and Sunflower are other apartments on the same site.
