CREATURE COMFORTS:
Phone (yes, limited, no): This score tells you whether there is a phone in your accommodation. The higher score means there is a phone (usually metered in some manner that allows you pay for your calls as you go). The middle (limited) score means there is a phone available for some use, but not solely for your use. (Usually it means that a landlord who lives nearby will allow you to use the phone on a limited basis.) A lower score means there is no phone available at this accommodation.
Television: (none, TV w/o cable, TV with cable) Check text in the apartment description for details on cable, etc.
Sunlight: A general rating as to the relative sense of natural light or darkness of the rooms in the accommodation.
Size: This factor is relative to the number of occupants in the accommodation. This rating is for the occupancy that is typical for this apartment. It gives you an idea of the general spaciousness of a property relative to other properties. For example an apartment may be spacious for two people, and may have a second bedroom that makes it possible to book that same apartment for more people. In that case, a spacious apartment for two persons may not seem as spacious when four people occupy the same space. Please be aware that we have tried to give you a general impression of the size and spacious feeling that most people report. If you plan to have a higher occupancy rate, you might want to speak directly to an Untour staff person in our office about the size of this apartment relative to the number of people your plans call to be occupying the property.
View: The view is from the apartment itself (In some cases, there may be an excellent view from many spots nearby; this factor just refers to views from the apartment itself.)
Furniture Comfort: This tries to give a general impression about how comfortable the seating is for everyday living. It reflects overall reports we have had from other customers about the degree to which the furniture functions comfortably for everyday use.
Outdoor Amenities: See text in individual property description for details about what outdoor amenities exist for each property. This rating is an indicator of when the outdoor amenities have been particularly appreciated by past customers.
Laundry Facilities: (yes, limited, no) This score tells you whether there are laundry facilities in your accommodation. A higher score means there are laundry facilities for your private use. (Usually a washer only, sometimes for a fee, sometimes without; dryers are extremely rare in vacation properties in Europe.) A middle (limited) score usually means that a landlord who lives nearby will do your laundry for you, or allow you to use their own facilities, sometimes for a fee. A lower score means there are no laundry facilities available at this accommodation. There will most likely be an iron in your apartment, but always check with Untours staff before you depart if you are unsure. If your apartment does not come equipped with one, your landlord can usually provide one for you during your stay.
Sleeping Facilities Comfort: This refers to bed comfort, proximity of bedroom and bathroom, or any other factors that might affect quality of sleep, like inferior or unusual beds. It generally reflects the reports we have had from customers regarding their ability to sleep well. It does not mean bed configuration (twins vs. double, etc), noise or size of bedroom. Quiet is also a factor that may affect sleep and that is a factor rated separately.
Quiet: This factor tells you about any noise-related factor relevant to the property. What it refers to can vary widely with each location. In one program, it could mean a crowing rooster, another a nearby early morning churchbell and in yet another, a restaurant or bar within earshot. Consult the text, or talk to a staff person toll-free for details about the particular conditions applicable to this property.
LIVING LIKE A LOCAL:
Apartment Host Experience (positive experience, relative): The owner/host experience varies widely across locations from no contact to a high level of contact. For example, many or most of our city apartments have no on-site host (any needs pertaining to the property are handled by a property manager.) In other locations, the presence of an active, friendly host may be the prime reason customers return to a particular property year after year. If you have any questions, consult the link on the property description for Landlord/host or talk to an Untour staffperson who can give you full details on this factor for each property.
Distance to Transportation/Major Roads: If you are using public transportation, this will refer to distance to your nearest station. If you are using a car, it will refer to access and distance to major roads.
Shopping (access to everyday supplies): This refers to the convenient location of good everyday supplies nearby. For example, if the accommodation is in a town with two or three good supermarkets, that would be rated higher than in a small village with one small store.
Well-Situated to See the Region or City: A high rating on this factor would mean that, relative to other choices of accommodation, this one is situated well for seeing the region or the city. A lower rating might indicate that it takes a bit more time to get to other points customers often want to visit.
