WHAT TO DO ON YOUR BAVARIA VACATIONDay trips: Just a few of the short day trips possible from the castle: Rothenburg, Dinkelsbühl, Nuremberg, Ansbach, Wolframs-Eschenbach, Munich, Würzburg, Bamberg and Regensburg. Delightful longer day trips include King Ludwig’s castle at Neuschwanstein, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Oberammergau, Heidelberg and even Salzburg.
Sightseeing you’ll want to consider: The walled town of Wolframs-Eschenbach with its many well-preserved, half-timbered houses, the Albrecht Dürer House (Germany’s greatest Renaissance artist), the well-preserved castle in Nuremberg, the cobblestone streets, gabled houses, ramparts and towers of Romantic Road towns like Dinkelsbühl and Rothenburg. Farther away, you can enjoy Oberammergau, the small town that attracts world attention with its Passion Play, and the many delights of cultured Salzburg and carefree Munich.
Off-the-beaten-track treasures that can’t be beat: There’s a wonderful assortment of off-the-beaten-track activities right here in the castle’s neighborhood, including several ponds and a lovely garden within the castle grounds. The Baron’s family has owned the castle since the sixteenth century. His graciousness and hospitality provide for a memorable stay that includes informal orientations upon arrival and later during your stay, a grand tour of the castle. Visit nearby Lake Gunzenhausen to enjoy paddleboats, wind surfing and biking. Or take a cool swim and have a picnic lunch as the locals do. The Baron and his staff are always happy to inform you of the many activities and festivals in the nearby towns.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THIS UNTOUR?
The Germany - Castle Untour Includes:
Here's what our customers say about how much there is to do in Bavaria:"There are not enough words to describe the castle and our experience. The Baron and his wife were delightful...They were so gracious. All Untour participants should have a week here." Sharon and Roger Dietz
"This was a family gathering for us with our children and grandchildren. It was a wonderful experience for all of us. Because we don't get to Germany every day, we did a lot of driving to fit in as much as we could. That was quite strenuous, but coming back to the castle and its peacefulness was most relaxing. Everyone in the group had a highlight...from driving a red BMW 100 mph on the autobahn to a biergarten with a band overlooking the town of Spalt (with a playground for the kids!.) The grandchildren enjoyed being with their cousins and playing around the castle." Robert and Ann Hein
"We enjoyed being part of Untours and liked staying in the German countryside more than we could imagine. The day trips we took were great. We liked being at the castle much better than the two days we spent in the hustle and bustle of Munich -- even though we were glad for the opportunity to see some of the city." Sally, Ronald and Lucas Hartfield
“Best ever of the Untours we’ve been on. Absolutely outstanding. I felt as if I was living in a romantic novel! We can’t say enough about the kindness and generosity of the Baron who truly invited us into his home.” Gene and Lisa Gibson, Bavarian Castle Untour
