As the largest Mediterranean island and region in Italy, Sicily will captivate you with its multitude of historic sites, spectacular water views, a rainbow of spring wildflowers, the freshest of seafood and, of course, homemade cannoli.
Day trips: Historic Syracuse, baroque Noto and Ragusa, volcanic Mt. Etna, picturesque Taormina are all within easy day trip distances. Longer trips to Palermo and the northern and western coasts as well as overnight ferry trips to Malta and the Aeolian Islands are all possible.
Sightseeing:Take in the striking views of Mt. Etna through the pillars of the Greek theater in Taormina and the coastline views of the Mediterranean, catch a traditional Sicilian puppet show in Palermo, travel inland to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Roman Villa at Casale for some of the finest mosaics ever found and return time and again to historic Syracuse and its scenic harbor of Ortigia .
Off-the-beaten-track treasures that can’t be beat: Enjoy a peaceful small-boat trip on the Ciane River to see the papyrus growing wild as well as the pond said to be formed from Persephone's tears. Get your exercise by visiting the pottery town of Caltagirone and climbing the monumental staircase covered entirely with majolica tiles. Take an excursion to the Regional Park on the northern coast, which provides opportunity for hiking, taking in medieval villages and vineyards. There is even a ski resort in winter.

Here's what our customers say about how much there is to do in Sicily:
2007:
"We saw incredible archeological sites, cathedrals, museums, Mt. Etna while "active" but what stays with us are the people. They were all welcoming and helpful. We got lost a few times and everyone went out of their way to help us with a smile." Frank & Linda Sorrentino, SI-5
"Beautiful location in a fascinating landscape with lots to see." Beryl Young, SI-6
2006:
"If we return to Sicily I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else. Our hosts, Renata and Peppe, are so nice and it was so restful we could have stayed the month. Syracuse was a great choice as headquarters." Judy & Jim Camarata, SI-8
"Sicily is such a great place, somehow untouched by 'modern tourism'. It seems to be like it's always been. Sights are varied and interesting, something for everyone - Greek & Roman ruins, baroque architecture, real fishing towns, natural beauty, ceramics and more. People are splendid ~ open, helpful, interested ~ all without common language. "
" I loved Sicily everything about it. Can hardly wait to return." Sandra Hughes, SI-4
"We liked the people, the wine, the food, and the performances at the Greek Theaters." Veronica Wyller, SI-7
"I really liked exploring all the wonderful areas of Sicily. The countryside is marvelous, food fantastic, people very helpful and hospitable." Lynn Daly, SI-5
