Media, PA - Untours announces a new Wine and Food Untour program that will connect its travelers in Tuscany and Provence with locals chefs, winemakers, and regional food experts for a program that emphasizes local food and wine. The program includes market tours, tastings, cooking classes and a truffle hunt (in season).
The seven-day Tuscany Wine and Food Untour will take place May 2 and October 10 in and around the Untours homebase of Montalcino and will place guests in the heart of Brunello wine territory, with easy access to the Chianti Valley.
The weeklong Provence Food and Wine Untour will run May 9 and Oct 3, with activities based in and around the villages of Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Pernes-les-Fontaines. The package includes a private winery tour with driver and a tasting tour of historic Avignon.
In both locations, guests will stay in comfortable private apartments in the countryside, in rural homes in Provence, and on working farms and vineyards in Tuscany. As with the normal tour package offered by Untours throughout spring and fall, these special terms will include a rental car, airport transfer assistance, and the support of local staff on location.
Cooking classes in both locations will be small-group, hands-on experiences where guests will help prepare multiple courses using seasonal local ingredients. Then they will dine together. In Provence, guests will tour the local markets with a chef. In Tuscany, guests will join a local in the countryside to hunt for herbs in spring or truffles in fall.
“We have been operating in these villages for decades and have deep relationships with apartment owners, friendships with winemakers, and connections with culinary partners in the community,” says Italian Untour Director Andi Cancelliere. “We are excited to leverage those relationships to give our guests an epicurean experience they will remember for years.”
In Provence, guests will join a local expert for a tasting tour of Avignon. “This is one of the most beautiful cities in Provence,” says Dodge Amaral, Director of the French Untours. “On this outing, our guests will be invited into its markets, kitchens, and tasting rooms to have a unique experience.”
The Wine and Food Untour includes a suite of three food and wine themed activities that are special to the region and the season. While the activities are included in pricing for the dates listed, groups of four or more traveling with Untours at other times in the season may book the activities by request at an additional fee.
Untours offers apartment-based vacations in other regions in Italy and France and elsewhere in Europe, including Spain, Switzerland, Germany, and Greece. The company promotes deep travel and understanding of place through local experience, and it has been organizing its Untour travel packages since 1975.
