The global winter kitchen... (food for the soul)

Dear Friend,

Will we be homebodies again this winter? It's hard to know, but many of us developed new and more ambitious cooking routines last winter. Bread baking, grocery delivery, online cooking classes, and other foodie developments helped ground us and fed us in more ways than one.

So as we head into another winter, we offer you some kitchen inspiration. Look to the cuisines of Europe for new ideas. Try some Greek meze or Swiss rösti. Adopt a new tradition from Europe this season, like the Three Kings Cake with a French twist. Learn to make pasta from scratch.

We can enjoy the stimulation of distant places and cultures without leaving our kitchens. Trying new foods and learning new recipes can stimulate our senses and feed our curiosity, or at least stoke it until we can travel again.

We're keeping the home fires burning with some exciting online events to engage you, offering lively company in the still of winter. Hop into Tracy's Tuscan kitchen for a pasta-making lesson, or invite a friend to join you for some live Fado, an illustrated art lecture, or an online wine tasting.
