The Violin is a spacious, modern, open-plan house in a picturesque section of the South Bank. It’s arranged over 3 floors and comfortably sleeps a maximum of 8 in a variety of possible combinations. This large apartment offers excellent access to the sights of London.
The three floors are linked with a stylish spiral staircase. It has attractive wooden flooring throughout and is simply furnished with contemporary furniture. On the ground floor is a good-sized double bedroom with a double bed, a sofa which converts to a double bed, and en-suite bathroom with a double shower. Built-in cupboards give ample storage space. (Ground floor windows have frosted glass for privacy.)
The small twin bedroom is also on this floor. The second bathroom on this floor (shower) also doubles as a utility room with washing machine and dryer.
The living area, dining area, and kitchen are on the second floor. Arranged on three sides around the central stairwell, they are distinct areas with the kitchen not visible from the living area. The lounge area includes three comfortable sofas arranged around a low table and a TV (cable channels). There’s a stereo with a variety of CDs.
The dining area has a glass dining table and 6 attractive modern chairs. The kitchen has all the expected appliances including microwave and dishwasher.
The third and fourth double bedrooms are on the third floor. Each has its own bathroom. The third bedroom has a bathroom with a bath/shower combination. The fourth bedroom has a bathroom with a walk-in shower.
The Roupell Street conservation area is a well kept secret – charming Victorian cottages, original gas-lamp standards, traditional pubs. On adjoining Theed Street, the Violin is set in a former violin factory next to a music school. The street maintains its artistic links: a royal photographer lives next door and the London Festival Orchestra’s rehearsal venue is close by. Theed Street is not a through street, so it has very little traffic.
The area offers excellent dining and shopping options. For a splurge, the nearby OXO Tower has both a formal restaurant and more relaxed brasserie and bar have stunning views across the Thames to Charing Cross and the city. Closer to home, there's a grocery store 2 minutes away, a bakery/café 1 minute away, and a traditional pub just around the corner.
Waterloo Station (tube Northern, Bakerloo and Jubilee lines) is less than 7 minutes away. You’re wonderfully placed for the arts: The South Bank Centre (Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Purcell Room, Hayward Gallery), The National Theatre, The Old Vic and The Young Vic are all within 10 minutes walk – as are some top class restaurants. The Palace of Westminster (Houses of Parliament and Big Ben) is within 20 minutes.

Waterloo is a lively, culturally rich district on the South Bank . With the nearby Waterloo station serving both local travelers with its tube station and long distance travelers, it is an excellent transportation hub. Nearby theaters such as the Old Vic, Young Vic, the National Theatre, and Shakespeare's Globe offer a range of productions. The Royal Festival Hall is nearby with great concert options. Westminster Palace and Big Ben are within easy walking distance just across the river. Restaurants and shops are plentiful.
