Ireland's Many Textures: Photos from the Road

on Wed, 08/17/2016 - 09:36

Vicky Johnson sure knows how to go on an adventure. On her Irish Untour she visited many Irish sites, including the Ring of Kerry, the stone circle in Untours' hometown of Kenmare, and the Ring of Beara. Along the way she captured the rich textures of Southwest Ireland's small towns and countryside with her camera. Oh and did we mention she got a Celtic tattoo?! Check out her photo journey below!

One of many castle ruins spotted along the Iveragh Peninsula, along the Ring of Kerry.

Heading to the Ring of Beara. These signs are omnipresent and super helpful when you are out on scenic drives.

The storefront at Molly Gallivan's historic farmstead is like so many in Ireland, with its rustic stones. The bikes are ubiquitous as well.

On the trail to Cashelkeelty stone circle, some white water among the moss covered rocks.

The result of a Kenmare lacing class. The detail in Irish lace is astounding.

Sticky toffee pudding in Kenmare. Sweets like this are a perfect end to a pub meal.

Vicky at Molly Gallivan's cottage and farm, touching a statue of the Irish heroine.

Here is Vicky getting a celtic tattoo in Killarney.

And on to Blarney Castle, where Vicky waits in and line and kisses the Blarney Stone.

And a romp through Kenmare's very own stone circle, one of the finest in all of Ireland.

Welcome home at Molly Gallivan's, an Untour gathering where guests learned about old traditional Irish farming and culture.
