Tell us a little bit about your most recent Untour and why you chose that particular destination?

Our last traditional Untour was to the Rhine, staying in St. Goar in September 2007. Since then, we have stayed in Beaune, France with The Right Vacation Rental program, and we are booked on a Russian River Cruise in June, 2013!, We went on our Russian cruise with AMA Waterways booked via UnTours in June. It was a huge treat for us and we enjoyed the wonderful staff, the excursions, the food… all of it! Thank you again lasting vacation memories!! 

 

Why did you choose to go there?

We chose the Rhine Untour because we wanted to experience “The Rhine In Flames” fireworks extravaganza first hand!

What is your favorite UnTours memory?

Oh goodness, I can only pick one? Certainly, a real thrill was our Paris Untour in Spring, 2000, when we stayed in the City of Lights for two weeks, and felt like residents and not travellers. 

 
We have very fond memories of both the Tuscany Untour and our stay in the Bavarian Castle. We raved about LeChiuse so much cousins of ours stayed there twice! (Bob & Jan Patetta). My best memory from our castle stay was looking out the apartment windows to see the moat and countryside beyond…like something from a medieval novel!  We hope to add the Amalfi Untour to our  “list” one of these years! We’ll be in touch and thanks again!

How is taking an Untour different from other ways of traveling?

There is a real sense of rootedness and connectedness to a place we have experienced in all our 12 UnTours. We also gained a confidence about living  and moving around in another culture and finding that the things people have in common are much greater than their differences. Of course, vive les differences, they are what add spice to each individual Untour!

If you could describe an Untour in just 3 words, what would they be?

Discovering, experiencing, savoring.

Just a note: Susan and Lawrence liked their accommodations in the Rhine, Paris and all the other more recent UnTours they’ve taken.  Alas, we don’t offer those apartments currently, so we thought we’d share some “oldies but goodies” from their earlier choices.
