WHAT TO DO ON YOUR SALZBURG VACATIONDay trips and Sightseeing: Sample all the delights of Salzburg: The gardens at the Mirabell Palace, window shopping at the fashionable shops and strolling among the ornate ironwork signs of Getreidegasse. Take in Mozart’s birthplace, not to mention Salzburg’s world-famous castle, cathedral and concerts. Outside this fascinating city, visit Grossglockner, the highest peak in the Austrian Alps; try your hand at windsurfing at Zell am See; or play the water games at Schloss Hellbrun. Longer day trips are possible to Graz and Innsbruck, or you can combine a visit to the delightful Wachau region of the Danube with an overnight in Vienna.
For off-the-beaten-track activities that can’t be beat: "Summer sliding" down the Alps, daily falconry demonstrations at the local Hohenwerfen castle, sampling spicy sausages as you stroll through the open-air markets in Salzburg’s University Square, taking a miniature train to see the salt mines deep below the earth at Hallein, exploring the world’s largest ice cave right in the Untour home village of Werfen, or just strolling through meadows of wildflowers outside your hometown to see the Golling waterfall.

WHAT'S INCLUDED IN THIS UNTOUR?
The Austria - Salzburg Untour Includes:
Here's what our customers say about how much there is to do in Salzburg:"I was just blown away with the natural beauty of the country, and felt the same about the cities of Vienna and Salzburg. We definitely could have stayed another week, and then some. This was our 2nd Untours experience and can't wait to figure where to go to next." Kenneth Rose and Nancy Reifler
"Your Austrian Untour landords and staff cannot be surpassed. Terry and Joseph were amazing landlords. They knew exactly how to make us feel welcome, give us information to make our experience special, and yet not make us feel "smothered". Heidi should get some sort of award for "Untours staff contact of the year". She and her husband, Franz, cannot be duplicated. We intend to take another Untour in the future and we know that we must refrain from comparing others to Heidi and Franz, because we honestly do not believe they cannot be matched." Betsy and William Strain
"We enjoyed the entire trip. Even at 70+ and walking up that hill to our house every day we still enjoyed our two weeks." Anita Wenrich
"We liked the location (and the fabulous scenery!) probably the best, closely followed by the friendliness of the people, particularly our apartment owners and the Untour staff. They all made our visit enjoyble, educational, and ensured that we were aware of the more important things to do and places to visit. They gave a great deal of help in reading train schedules, suggesting restaurants, shopping facilities, and special event happenings...Your literature was very good and we took advantage of many of your suggestions. The small towns and their special events were special. We watched several funeral processions with large marching bands, and enjoyed seeing churches decorated for weddings. We never did have a poor restaurant experience." Robert and Rhodean Glen
“Small town friendly atmosphere! Beautiful scenery and clean, safe country.” Allan and Mary Ellen Williams
