In 2013 Steve Somerville returned to Greece for his second Untour there. He has enjoyed many Untour destinations over the years. Here is his account of Greece the second time around, along with some of his photos from the trip.   Not long ago, my friend Lynne and I returned to Nafplio, Greece, for our…

One of my favorite UnTours is our Greece Untour, with vacation rental apartments set in lovely historic Nafplio. The old town is picturesque and charming, its narrow alleys lined with flower boxes and its squares and promenades filled with cafe tables and restaurants. A beautiful seafront offers sweeping views, and a Venetian fortress looms high…

For our 40th birthday, it is fun to share stories and memories. A favorite of mine comes from our Greece Untour, and a daring rescue at our lovely Dimitri apartment. Some guests of ours in Nafplio were having trouble with their building lock. One Friday night they came home and could not open the door at all….

Untourists, Gerald and Lynda Taylor sure love to travel. So much so that they recently shipped out to Europe for four weeks to live like locals. Starting in the gorgeous Nafplio, Greece apartments they travelled around Greece visiting famous sites like Acropoli, Delphi, and Mycenae. After spending two weeks with the gods, they flew north…

When considering a vacation to Greece most tourists focus on the islands, and although they are gorgeous, many overlook the beauty that is mainland Greece. From Athens, Thessaloniki, and the Peloponnese, Greece is more than its islands. I’ve compiled a list of the top places to see across Greece, many of which I experienced during…

Inspiration in Nafplio Nestled in the heart of Greece with easy access to the Peloponnese, Nafplio is one of the most scenic villages in Greece. Known for its vibrant pink flowers, striking blue water, and ancient castles, Nafplio is every artist’s dream. With easy day trips to the island of Hydra and ancient cities such…

I feel lucky to work with a small but dedicated crew of globalists. Our staff is worldly, broad minded, and very well traveled. They’ve elevated my thinking, stoked my curiosity about new parts of the globe, and helped me grow into a citizen of the world. I recently asked them a simple question: What’s your…

The cats of Hydra, Greece. Scroll down for more adorable photos!   One of the things I love about my husband is his love for animals.    I had a few parakeets when growing up. One even talked! But I never had a cat or dog. It was Paul’s chubby and lovable gray and white…

The Nafplio Untour in Greece is one of my favorites. It’s the perfect example of what our founder Hal Taussig had in mind when he came up with the Untour concept. The town is big enough to offer interesting museums and sights, a vibrant restaurant scene, lovely waterfront walks, two beaches and enchanting alleys. Yet…

Friendly dogs and sandy beaches aren’t the first things that come to mind for me when I think of Nafplio and our Greek Untour. My 14-year-old daughter opened my eyes to new sides of this lovely seaside town when we visited Greece this summer. Anna didn’t join me on a work trip to Greece to see…
