Stirling, UK - Central Scotland, Home of Baker Street
They don’t call it the Gateway to the Highlands for nothing. Stirling is surrounded by lush, lovely countryside, with magnificent views along the River Forth.
Home to 86,000 people, Stirling is made up of an old town and a modern part with shops, banks, a diverse selection of restaurants, cafes, pubs, and a shopping mall.
The well preserved Old Town is a treasure trove of historic buildings and cobbled streets winding up to the Castle, and this is where you will want to spend your time. The castle, considered by many to be the best in Scotland, and its rich programming offer brilliant Medieval living history.
Stirling is also home to Scotland’s best surviving town walls. The Church of the Holy Rude has been the town’s parish church for 600 years and is where James VI was crowned in 1567. The National Wallace monument commemorates William Wallace, the hero of the Scottish movement for independence (as depicted in the movie Braveheart) who defeated the English at Stirling Bridge in 1297. Though his heroics are significant, it was Robert the Bruce’s defeat of the English in 1314 at the Battle of Bannockburn that finally established a lasting Scottish nation. You can visit the Bannockburn Heritage Centre on the outskirts of town to learn more.
Stirling has a public library with internet access and a tourist office in the historic district.
Music lovers can find traditional music sessions in one of the many pubs, our favorite being the Wednesday night session at the Settle Inn.
The city is on a train line with frequent service to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Both are an hour or less by train, and the region offers great highway access with many beautiful day trip options by car like St. Andrews, Callander, Loch Lomond, Inverness, and Oban.
Customer comments about Baker Street, Stirling, UK - Central Scotland
"This was a great apartment. Nice views and fairly centrally located. Nice welcome package and a wonderful kitchen. We cooked all our breakfasts." Virginia Nutt
"The apartment was fabulous! We had everything we needed and more. The location was close to the sights in Stirling, plenty of excellent restaurants, the train station and shopping. The WiFi worked without issue as did every appliance. The only down side is parking. You spend a great deal of planning as to when to get back to Stirling to park. The free lot is locked from 5:00 pm until 10:00 am so you can't leave until it is unlocked or come in past 5:00 if you want to park in that lot. However, the apartment is worth taking the time to figure the parking out!" Elisabeth Irvin & Kenneth Raza
"The apartment is magnificent! The only reason it didn't rate a 10 is due to the noise coming from the street late at night. This might have been due to the fact that University students arrived back in town during our stay." Larry and Carolynn Feller

An Explanation of the Ratings: The first column of figures is the highest score possible in each category. The column on the far right is the score for this particular apartment in this category. For this set of ratings, we have asked every Untour staff person who has seen the apartment to rate the individual features. Many of these staff people have been in a position to hear reports (good and bad) from customers over the years, so they offer a particularly well-informed perspective. Nevertheless, customer ratings will be included in the overall ratings as soon as possible.
Please keep in mind that tastes vary. These ratings give an overall sense of how most people feel about a factor; you are in the best position to know if your tastes and requirements are likely to be in the mainstream of opinion or if you have particular needs. If you have any questions about the meaning of any of the factors rated, or about this apartment, please call our office toll-free at 1-999-868-6871.
