Wüthrich Small

Apartment is fine for up to 6 persons in a chalet

Stay in Swiss Heartland

The Wuthrich chalet in the Alpine village of Hasliberg-Reuti is a beautiful example of the large wooden farm houses found in this part of the Bernese Oberland. The Wuthrich Small apartment is anything but small! It consists of triple, double and single bedrooms and a large living/dining area. It offers a well-furnished modern kitchen with a Swiss coffee machine, and a bathroom with a tub. The spacious living area features a beautiful wood interior, new sofas and sensational western facing views of the great Alps of the region (also seen from the triple bedroom.)

The chalet is also the residence of the friendly Wuthrich family. The Wuthrich Large apartment, which is managed by the daughter-in-law, is in the same chalet. Both apartments combined can accommodate a group of 14 guests.

The apartment is just a few minutes uphill walk from transportation and the village center with a small grocery store and wonderful restaurant. An aerial gondola brings you to the transportation hub of Meiringen in the valley in just 7 minutes and is free with the local guest card. And hourly bus service to the Brünig train station is included in the Swiss Pass.

WiFi speed as of 6/4/20: 18 Mbps Down/8 Mbps Up

Reuti, Switzerland - Heartland, Home of Wüthrich Small

The Hasliberg, a mountain, is also the name of a community made up of 4 villages: Hohfluh, Wasserwendi, Goldern and Reuti. They share one local government, one mayor, one tourist office, one community center and one bank. It is not clear exactly when the mountain was first settled, but the area developed a unique culture and personality over many centuries. In some ways, the inhabitants lived in splendid isolation, which perhaps explains why these 4 small villages appear to be right out of “Heidi.” A casual stroll through any one reveals beautiful old chalets, immaculate gardens and gentle hints of a way of life from long ago.

The Hasliberg is best described as a hiker’s paradise, with the greatest variety and concentration of outstanding walks and hikes in the Heartland. There is a wonderful walk for families with children created around the stories of “Muggestutz,” a Hasliberg dwarf. Each of the villages has at least one or two good restaurants and small grocery stores supplying basic needs, and Hofhluh also features a fine little bakery.

The post bus connects the 4 villages with the Brunig train station, which offers hourly service to the famed Bernese Oberland resort of Interlaken (45 minutes west) and the city of Luzern (75 minutes north.) An aerial tramway connects Reuti with Meiringen down in the valley every 30 minutes. Cable cars also connect Reuti to higher locations on the Hasliberg (gondolas to Kaserstatt, Bidmi, Magisalp and Planplatten).

If I could give setting 10 stars, I would! The view from our window was worth a poster every day. The gondola to Meiringen was a 5-minute walk and the ride down was beautiful and easy - about a 10-minute walk into town and the train after that. Our apartment had everything we needed and then some. (Fantastic coffee maker!!!) Super comfortable beds, and of course the down comforters... sigh! Our host was attentive and kind. Leaving was hard on our hearts.

Our apartment was located in the middle of a storybook setting. The window we sat by for coffee and dinner was a glimpse into the past as well as the present, with breathtaking mountains seemingly a ball's throw away, and chalets in the middle of green fields below. It left me with profound regard for the Swiss and almost an ache that I did not have the privilege to have grown up and lived in a village like Reuti.

This is anything but small! It has two large bedrooms, a small extra sleeping area, a huge living room, eat-in kitchen and modern bath! The view from the apartment is magnificent and it is located only minutes from a grocery store and the bus.

I had a view of the Alps out of my bedroom window; what more is there to say? The apartment was extremely spacious and comfortable. We all slept very well; the beds were so comfortable, and it was so quiet and peaceful. We had absolutely everything we needed!

The apartment could not be better situated: 1 min. to bus stop, 2min. to cable cars (down to Meiringen and up to Alpen tower), and three minutes to the market. The view from the living room is stupendous; I have hundreds of photos taken from the window of the room with a view.

There is no balcony or patio, but there are wonderful windows in the living room that we sit in front of (open on a nice day) and look out on the beautiful mountains and watch the clouds and parasailers.

The 2 Wuthrich apartments are superb. The bathroom in "Small" (which is not small) has all been redone, elegant! And a shower curtain, helpful. Kitchen is well-supplied, living room comfortable for relaxing, beds comfortable. Great having 2 English channels on TV. Frau although a little reserved is very accommodating.

We love this apartment. This was our 5th stay here and it now seems like home. We hate to tell too many others about it for fear it won't be available when we want it.

The kitchen was completely remodeled - new stove, refrigerator and coffee maker. There were plenty of municipal trash bags, toilet paper, etc.
