Wallace View 2

Cozy two-bedroom cottage in Stirling

Stay in Central Scotland

The Wallace View cottage is situated on a bucolic working family farm. Located about 3 miles from the center of Stirling, it offers a peaceful setting and spectacular views of the National Wallace Monument, the Ochil Hills, and even Stirling Castle.

As you enter the cottage you step into a well equipped eat-in kitchen with a tiled floor. The living room is cozy and its large picture window offers a view of green fields and hills in the distance. The cottage can sleep four in two bedrooms, one with twins and one with a queen bed. The bathroom has a bathtub/shower combination. A washer/dryer, dishwasher, TV with UK channels and Wi-Fi complete the amenities.

UnTours has access to another cottage just a few steps away, which can sleep 2 and is a great setup for a group of family or friends.

The owner lives nearby and can be reached if needed. She and her daughter operate the farm themselves, so they are often quite busy.

A grocery store and popular Italian cafe are a quick drive or easy 25-minute walk should you feel so inclined on a nice day. Stirling is only 10 minutes by car and you have good access to the A9 motorway for trips further afield.

WiFi speed as of 4/23/21: 2.5 Mbps Down

Stirling, UK - Central Scotland, Home of Wallace View 2

They don’t call it the Gateway to the Highlands for nothing. Stirling is surrounded by lush, lovely countryside, with magnificent views along the River Forth.

Home to 86,000 people, Stirling is made up of an old town and a modern part with shops, banks, a diverse selection of restaurants, cafes, pubs, and a shopping mall.

The well preserved Old Town is a treasure trove of historic buildings and cobbled streets winding up to the Castle, and this is where you will want to spend your time. The castle, considered by many to be the best in Scotland, and its rich programming offer brilliant Medieval living history.

Stirling is also home to Scotland’s best surviving town walls. The Church of the Holy Rude has been the town’s parish church for 600 years and is where James VI was crowned in 1567. The National Wallace monument commemorates William Wallace, the hero of the Scottish movement for independence (as depicted in the movie Braveheart) who defeated the English at Stirling Bridge in 1297. Though his heroics are significant, it was Robert the Bruce’s defeat of the English in 1314 at the Battle of Bannockburn that finally established a lasting Scottish nation. You can visit the Bannockburn Heritage Centre on the outskirts of town to learn more.

Stirling has a public library with internet access and a tourist office in the historic district. Music lovers can find traditional music sessions in one of the many pubs, our favorite being the Wednesday night session at the Settle Inn.

The city is on a train line with frequent service to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Both are an hour or less by train, and the region offers great highway access with many beautiful day trip options by car like St. Andrews, Callander, Loch Lomond, Inverness, and Oban.

★★★★★

It was absolutely wonderful. We didn't want to leave. Sadly, we only had one encounter with our hostess.

The Wallace View apartment was the perfect location! We loved being in the middle of pasture land. Also, we had views of Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle. This just added to our experience of being in an ancient landscape. The apartment was also conveniently located to the things we needed and the places we wanted to see. The apartment was nicely furnished. It suited us well!

★★★★★

We loved staying at the farm. Watching the sheep and horses through the huge windows was one of our favorite past times. We could see the Wallace Monument and Stirling Castle also. The apartment was clean and well appointed. The welcome basket of goodies was much appreciated! We were sad to leave!

★★★★★

The apartment was cozy, clean and comfortable. Waking up to a herd of sheep grazing outside my bedroom window was an absolute joy - as was the helpfulness and friendliness of the owner. We couldn't have asked for a more scenic setting.

★★★★★

Anne is an excellent landlord. She was there to help explain everything when we arrived. We were able to keep the rooms appropriate temperatures. The shower has great hot water and decent pressure. The beds were wonderful. The mattress was as least as comfortable as what I have at home. The place felt like a home. Loved the peace of the farm. Liked having other UnTourists nearby. The horses and sheep were a bonus.

★★★★★

The Wallace View apartment was lovely, comfortable and convenient, and we loved watching the sheep and horses in the adjacent fields.
