One could not find a better home away from home in central London. The Peabody apartment takes its name from the historic Peabody complex in which it is located. The four buildings were the beginning of the Peabody Trust, one of London’s oldest housing associations created by American-British philanthropist, George Peabody.

The location of the apartment is ideal, with the British Museum, Waterloo Bridge, Covent Garden and its theaters all within an easy walk. The Russell Square tube station is a 3-minute walk away, and there are several bus lines nearby, including the London Tour Bus. With convenient transit access, all of London is within easy reach.

The apartment itself is tastefully decorated and has all of the modern conveniences that one could need. You enter into a long hallway with the open living area and kitchen at the end. The lounge area features a sofa bed, a flat screen TV (cable), and a dining table with seating for six. The open kitchen area is beautifully lit by natural sunlight and has all stainless steel appliances. The two bedrooms are off the entrance hallway. The master bedroom has two twin beds that can be combined and an en suite bathroom. The second bedroom has a double bed and access to the second bathroom with a shower stall off of the hallway.

Bloomsbury, UK - London, Home of Peabody

Unlike the nearby Oxford Street, Bloomsbury has tons to do and see, but isn't as showy about it. Despite being in central London many streets in Bloomsbury are calm and quaint. This area is historically famous for the Bloomsbury Group, which was a collection of writers and artists including Virginia Woolf, Charles Dickens, Charles Darwin, George Bernard Shaw and EM Forster. The City of London has nailed blue circular plaques to buildings where famous residents once lived and Bloomsbury is covered with them. Still dotted with independent bookshops and cafes, Bloomsbury continues to hold onto its charm and history.

Sights include the world famous British Museum, the British Library (home to every book ever published in the United Kingdom) and the University College London. Some of the lesser known sites around include the Charles Dickens Museum, Pollock’s Toy Museum, and Broadcasting House (where BBC radio first began). If walking around this neighborhood doesn’t make you want to pick up a book or write a paper, nothing will.

An Explanation of the Ratings:
The first column of figures is the highest score possible in each category. The column on the far right is the score for this particular apartment in this category. For this set of ratings, we have asked every Untour staff person who has seen the apartment to rate the individual features. Many of these staff people have been in a position to hear reports (good and bad) from customers over the years, so they offer a particularly well-informed perspective. Nevertheless, customer ratings will be included in the overall ratings as soon as possible.

Please keep in mind that tastes vary. These ratings give an overall sense of how most people feel about a factor; you are in the best position to know if your tastes and requirements are likely to be in the mainstream of opinion or if you have particular needs. If you have any questions about the meaning of any of the factors rated, or about this apartment, please call our office toll-free at 1-888-868-6871. You can nearly always talk directly with someone who has personally seen the accommodation.
