Tricia Mitchell

Program Director

I'm a passionate explorer who loves citizen diplomacy—the idea that ordinary people can represent their home countries and promote positive intercultural exchange.

Raised in the American Midwest, I've lived overseas for 20 years. I'm fortunate to have visited more than 65 countries, and I've also called Germany, Malta, Croatia, and France home. As I stood in the shadows of Angkor Wat, the Taj Mahal, or Petra’s Treasury, I created lasting memories. However, it was the people who extended me heartwarming hospitality on my travels who left the most indelible impressions.

In addition to being a big fan of slow travel, I also enjoy hiking, yoga, biking, playing piano, history, writing, photography, and learning languages. I know a bit of German and I'm trying to become fluent in French.

Professionally, I've worn many hats—education program director, training manager, freelance travel writer, and content marketing manager. My articles have appeared in Fodor's Travel, Frommer's, and International Living. I've also had my own blog for over a decade.

I was thrilled to join the UnTours team as a program director for many reasons—chief among them the company's B Corps status and its connection to the UnTours Foundation. My kind co-workers make the job enjoyable, as do UnTours' interesting clients.

I'm eager to hopefully inspire you to appreciate the world's beauty, too.
