Graziella

The Graziella farmhouse has been lovingly renovated and decorated in typical Tuscan style. It can sleep up to 8 and is by far our largest vacation rental apartment in Tuscany It boasts sweeping views from various spots, inside and out, so you can enjoy the surroundings.

The farmhouse is actually made up of several apartments that are joined by a connecting door (upstairs to downstairs). The downstairs is made up of a large kitchen with all of the amenities, 2 bedrooms each with a queen bed, and one bathroom with shower stall. There is a connecting studio apartment with a twin bed and an additional full bathroom. There is no living area on this floor.

The second floor is made up of a kitchenette and small living space with comfy seating for only up to four persons (3 seater sofa and an armchair). There are also 2 bedrooms, each with a queen bed and two full baths with shower stall.

There is a separate, open room adjacent to the house with sofas and chairs, however this living space does not have a door to protect from the elements so it is only inhabitable during good weather. There is also a communal room on the property that can be used for various activities, such as workshops or cooking lessons.

The grounds are gorgeous, affording lovely views of the country-side. There is an above-ground pool with plenty of lounge space to encourage a relaxing stay.

San Giovanni D'Asso is actually part of the Municipality of Montalcino and is situated in the Crete Senese, that is, the rolling clay hills of Siena. It takes its name from John the Baptist and the Asso River. The centre of San. Giovanni D’Asso is actually a Castle, started in 1100 AD. Its origins are Etruscian and Roman. The Church dates back to the 14th Century. It’s a great place for foodies! Mainly for its location, in between Montalcino and Montepulciano, renowned for their world famous wines made from the San Giovese grape. The Val D’Orcia also produces excellent wines and the City is also known as the “Citta’ del Olio”, due to it’s excellent olive oil. And not only.....every year from the end of October to the beginning of November is the truffle festival. The area is very well known for its prestigious white truffle. There is the truffle museum in the town and at this time of year the truffle hunters are out with their dogs to find these precious nuggets.

San Giovanni is a little over half an hours drive to Siena, 15 minutes from Montalcino, 35 minutes to Montepulciano, with Pienza just over 20 minutes away, and well known for it’s famous Pecorino cheese. The village of Torrenieri is at 5 minutes for all the essentials, that is shops, pharmacy and supermarket. The delightful village of Montisi is just 5 minutes away. With it’s winding streets, beautifully decorated with flowers. It has shops, well-known restaurants and lots of activities to enjoy. With painting courses, hot air ballooning, cookery classes, horse back riding and trekking, and of course visits to wineries and cheese farms.

The owners of the farm do not live on site, but some of the host family members are there daily to oversee things. Our Tuscany UnTour staff person is always available by cell phone if guests have problems or concerns.
