Blumlisalpblick

Spacious, modern 3rd floor apartment

Stay in Swiss Oberland

The modern vacation apartment rental Blümlisalpblick is located above a bank in the pretty mountain resort of Kandersteg. The Blümlisalpblick is located on the third floor of a building with an elevator. Although the building is of newer construction, it’s built in the typical Swiss chalet style. The apartment features a large comfortable living/dining area big enough for a group to sit together for meals or TV watching. It’s very open and bright with light hardwood floors and colorful furniture. There’s a nice balcony with views of the beautiful mountains. With its table and chairs, the balcony is a perfect place for breakfast outside or evening wine and cheese.

The apartment is located on the main street of Kandersteg. Stores, restaurants and the rail station are all within an easy ten-minute walk.

Kandersteg, Switzerland - Oberland, Home of Blumlisalpblick

Kandersteg UnTourists reach their village by a railway that features a spectacular climb through the Kander Valley to this surprisingly large plateau at almost 4,000 feet. The train ride to Kandersteg from Thun is fascinating, passing through 2 tunnels between Frutigen and Kandersteg where the train reverses directions completely to gain altitude by spiraling inside the mountain.

Kandersteg is a village of about 1,000 people with no fewer than 30 restaurants!

Lying at the foot of the rugged escarpments that frame the snow-capped peaks of the Blumlisalp to the east and dip into a green Alpine basin, Kandersteg is best known for its location at the north end of the Lotschberg tunnel. Thanks to the tunnel, residents and visitors alike have access to the valley of Lotschental, which has kept its unique Alpine traditions, perhaps more than any other region in Switzerland. Kandersteg offers 3 lifts to surrounding peaks in the summer, banks, ATMs and a supermarket.

Kandersteg is also the center for a new kind of hang gliding called paragliding, which is really more parachuting than hang gliding, safer than either and easily learned. Although Kandersteg is a paradise for hikers, it can be enjoyed by non-hikers as well.

The apartment was fantastic. The well-equipped kitchen was delightful and made it so easy for us to fix meals there. The host had provided very nice amenities. Kandersteg is a wonderful village and the apartment was close to everything.

Phenomenal apartment! 'A-1' in all respects - the best apartment we've stayed in during 12 UnTours. Squeaky clean, super supplies - a dream in every respect. We'll be back!

★★★★★

Extremely convenient to the COOP and the train station. The elevator was an unexpected plus. The kitchen, while small, was the best equipped kitchen that we have encountered in our various Idyll trips. This was particularly important as we ate all breakfasts and most of our dinners in the apartment.

Blumlisalpblick is a fabulous apartment - very well equipped and convenient in every way. The only drawback is that the host family lives in Gwatt, so while they were very friendly and gracious upon our arrival, we had no other contact with them during our stay, other that one brief phone call shortly before departure asking if we needed help with our luggage. For people wanting more contact with their Swiss hosts, this would be less than ideal.

★★★★★

Awesome! Huge living room, cozy, comforters, microwave, great his/her sinks in bathroom, sunny...perfect location - 2 minutes from train.

Apartment is excellent. We would have liked it to be more Swiss & maybe not so modern city hi-rise, but it was ok.
