Chalet Gudrun

First floor apartment is ideal for families

Stay in Swiss Oberland

Tucked into the cute town of Frutigen, the Steiner vacation rental boasts great mountain views from its windows and a lovely outside garden space with barbecue. It is located on the ground floor of a typical Swiss-style home.

The bright and airy apartment consists of a modern eat-in kitchen, a living room with two comfortable couches, two bedrooms, and a bathroom with a tub and handheld shower. The bedrooms have queen-size beds, and one has a set of bunk beds, making it an ideal home base for families or two couples traveling together. There are tile floors throughout, except for the bedrooms, which have wood floors. Special features include a microwave, dishwasher, and free Wi-Fi.

The apartment is a flat 10-minute walk to the Frutigen train station, and a Migros supermarket is a mere 4 minutes away. The town also has a Coop supermarket, a bakery, and a number of other useful shops, as well as a tourist information office. It's a quick 14-minute train ride to Spiez, a great transportation hub for the Oberland and all of Switzerland. The friendly, English-speaking hosts live on site and speak English.

The apartment can sleep a maximum of 4 adults or 4 adults and 2 children.

Frutigen, Switzerland - Oberland, Home of Chalet Gudrun

Frutigen, situated halfway between Lake Thun and Kandersteg, contrasts wonderfully with the lakeside towns of the Bernese Oberland. It is a rustic mountain village of large, old wooden chalets with considerable charm among the most unspoiled, authentically Swiss parts of the Oberland UnTour area. A town of about 3,500, Frutigen offers reasonable prices, high-quality shopping, restaurants and a very helpful tourist office. The old-time wooden box (Spanschachtel) museum in nearby Wengi typifies the region’s interest in wooden handcrafts. As gateway to the famous high Adelboden valley with excellent hiking, Frutigen station is an important transportation center.

Frutigen offers 2 large supermarkets, banks and ATMs. It has maintained its small-town Swiss character and yet is a wonderful base for day trips through Switzerland. Outstanding mainline express train service takes you in less than an hour to the capital city of Bern, beautiful Lake Thun, the famed resort region surrounding Interlaken, the high valley towns of Adelboden and Kandersteg and to Brig, gateway to the famed resorts of Zermatt and Saas Fee on the south side of the Swiss Alps.

Reviews

Here's what our guests have to say

★★★★★

This spacious apartment has a great location near the train station and across from a farm. Easy walk to town for shopping and restaurants. Mrs. Steiner is a charming and accommodating hostess. I especially appreciated the strong WiFi signal and the Italian espresso maker. Although the apartment is near the tracks, I barely noticed any noise from trains thanks to the extra thick windows on that side of the apartment.
