I’ve just returned from my two week Germany UnTours giveaway vacation. Thanks, UnTours! My friend and I stayed in an apartment above the Christmas store in St. Goar and spent our days visiting towns along the Middle Rhine area from Koblenz to Mainz.
The views from the cable car in Rudesheim and the chairlift in Boppart were spectacular. No less stunning was the landscape seen while traveling along the Rhine by train and boat. Views from a distance are quite memorable, but being able to explore the towns allowed me to experience the unique character, beautiful architecture, and rich history of each.
The highlight of my trip was watching the Rhine in Flames fireworks display while enjoying the festive atmosphere and live music. After dark there was a parade of more than 40 boats, their lights reflecting in the river. Then the dueling fireworks set off from Rheinfels castle in St. Goar and Katz castle across the Rhine in St. Goarshausen was an hour of unsurpassed amazing awesomeness. Truly can’t be beat!
I made some new friends along the way and benefited from the travel insights of others, which made me feel connected – even though I was not a part of a tour group. Traveling the UnTours way was perfect!
I feel very blessed to have been given such a wonderful travel opportunity.
