As we dig through some of our archives, we occasionally unearth a gem or two. We recently found these beautiful sketches and watercolors, created by Untourist Kenneth Gantz on an Untour to Bavaria a few years ago. He shared them with us and his host Manfred on the Castle Untour in Germany, where he stayed in this medieval castle.
The Gantzes enjoyed their Castle Untour, staying in the comfortably refurnished fortress and hosted by the gracious baron and his lovely wife. While enjoying the tranquil setting and verdant grounds between day trips in the region, he captured the property beautifully in his sketchbook. A retired architect, Ken is able to appreciate and capture the details. “Sketching is a great way to enjoy and remember a place,” he says.
As we all get ready to travel to Germany and other places in Europe again, we enjoy seeing and sharing your artwork. UnTours have always drawn artists and creative people because of their beautiful settings and the freedom they allow for artistic discovery and plein air painting and drawing.
