Tell us a little bit about your most recent UnTour.: | Our UnTours experience is limited but by no means finalized. We have been to Switzerland & Austria & are currently considering plans to venture into Tuscany & Rome. The Austrian trip was our most recent. We were lodged in a great two bedroom apartment in the quaint village of Kuchl about 20 minutes by rail from Salzburg. From there we easily ventured into the countryside for sightseeing & hiking. The scenery was breath taking & we found the residents to be warm & friendly. It was a great experience. Michaela, UnTours local person, was most helpful in our arrivial orientation & with a couple of planned group ventures. |
Why did you choose to go there?: | We chose Austria primarily because we had a native German friend in the States who, many years ago, had spent time in Kuchl & was very complimentary of the locale. Another factor was that we planned, at the end of our Austrian visit, to travel to Stuggart, Germany to visit friends. |
What is your favorite UnTours memory?: | Two things come to mind. The Austrain Mountains were spectacular & having the opportuntiy to venture into some of them was fantastic. The other significant memory was a visit to Eagles Nest, Hitler’s mountain get away located not far from Salzburg. |
How is taking an UnTour different from other ways of traveling?: | We do not favor a regimented group approach to travel. We look forward to determining what it is that we want to see & do while seeking ways to connect with local people so as to further our understanding of the area. UnTours allows us to just do that through its system of pre-trip information & on-site resource personnel. You have the feeling that UnTours really cares about your being satisfied with your travel experience. |
If you could describe an UnTour in just 3 words, what would they be?: | Structure with freedom. |
