Inverness and nearby Ardersier are our UnTours hometowns in the Scottish Highlands, a welcoming home base for a truly incredible region of natural beauty. I had the pleasure of staying in Inverness a few years ago when we first set up the program.
Home to some 47,000 people and known as the capital of the Highlands, it is a pleasant city to explore and an ideal base for exploring the Highlands, with Loch Ness, Culloden Battlefield and the Bronze Age Clava Cairns just a quick drive away.
The city center is made for walking and boasts many shops, pubs, some excellent restaurants, a modern shopping mall and one from the Victorian era. The River Ness bisects the city, and quite a few bridges span it.
Inverness has something for every taste and interest: a Museum and Art Gallery showcasing the rich cultural history of the Highlands, a Botanic Garden, Eden Court Theatre with its movie, performance and music events, Ness Islands, art galleries and several churches and cathedrals.
And it is a respected hub of traditional music with live music sessions at various venues.
We hope to see you soon on a Scottish Highlands UnTour. Our colleagues in Scotland are getting ready for the reopening of travel. We hope you can visit Inverness soon on an UnTour, to enjoy the ambiance and local life of Inverness and to take in all the natural beauty of day trips into the wilds of the Highlands.
