Arrival in Tuscany

Arriving in Florence, you’ll step into Tuscany’s golden glow which carries the excitement of timeless beauty, boundless history and the promise of rolling hills in the distance. After a quick and easy journey through the airport, you’re soon on your way, leaving behind the Renaissance city’s vibrant pulse as you head toward the serene countryside.

The drive is nothing short of breathtaking. As you wind through olive groves and cypress-lined roads, every turn reveals another postcard-worthy view. Sun-soaked vineyards and quiet villages invite you to slow down and savor the moment. Lower your window, breathe in the fresh, fragrant air, and let Tuscany welcome you.

Your destination? A charming, historic farmhouse nestled in the heart of Tuscany. But what comes next is where the true magic of an UnTour begins. With a local UnGuide by your side, the next few days are yours to explore. Your UnGuide’s expertise ensures that you’re plans will be adjusted to suit the best days and times to discover these exciting experiences. This means no two adventures are ever the same—but here is a taste of the wonderful activities that will be included in the week:

Join Geno and Willy for an unforgettable truffle hunt

Step into the heart of Tuscany’s countryside and join Geno and his loyal truffle-hunting dog, Willy, on an adventure you won’t soon forget. This isn’t just about finding an elusive Italian delicacy—it’s about immersing yourself in a tradition that’s been passed down through generations.

Your day begins early, when the scent of truffles is at its strongest. With Willy leading the way, you’ll quietly move through the forest, watching as he sniffs the ground with precision. When he finds a truffle, the excitement builds as you carefully uncover the prized treasure, ensuring it remains intact. Patience is key here—truffle hunting is a delicate art.

In Tuscany, the white truffle, known for its intense aroma, is the crown jewel, in season from late September to December. Black truffles, equally sought after, can be found from November to March. But this journey is about so much more than the truffles—it’s about connecting with the land, the tradition, and the stories behind this time-honored practice.

And with an UnGuide alongside you, the day unfolds with flexibility, ensuring you experience the best moments as they happen, creating a story uniquely yours.

Cook like a Tuscan

Your culinary adventure begins with a spread of fresh, local ingredients laid out on a rustic wooden table—handmade pasta, vibrant vegetables, local cheeses, and olive oil pressed from nearby groves. And of course, there’s a bottle of locally produced wine ready to be uncorked. With the guidance of a passionate local chef, you’ll dive into the art of Tuscan cooking. Knead the dough, chop the vegetables, and stir the simmering pots as the chef weaves in stories of the region’s rich culinary traditions.

The atmosphere is laid-back and engaging, giving you plenty of chances to ask questions, enjoy a sip of wine, and savor the process. As each dish comes together, the kitchen fills with mouthwatering aromas, and you’ll feel the anticipation of a meal that’s just as rewarding to create as it is to enjoy.

And with your UnGuide ensuring that every moment feels authentic and spontaneous, no two classes unfold quite the same.

Tuscany vineyard tour and wine tasting

Join your fellow UnTourists for a private wine tour in the heart of Tuscany. This isn’t just a wine tasting—it’s an invitation to step into the soul of one of Italy’s most celebrated wine regions.

Imagine yourself surrounded by rolling hills, vineyards stretching endlessly under the Tuscan sun, dotted with cypress trees and rustic farmhouses. Your experience begins at a family-run winery, where you’re warmly greeted by the owners or passionate staff, ready to share the rich history of their craft. The atmosphere is intimate and relaxed, putting you at ease from the very start.

As you wander through the vineyard, you’ll learn about the grape varieties unique to the region, the secrets of the soil, and how the Tuscan terroir creates wines with such distinct character. Moving into the cool, earthy cellar, you’ll pass rows of oak barrels and dusty bottles, while your guide explains how the wine is aged and blended to perfection.

Then comes the tasting—a true sensory delight. Seated with breathtaking views of the countryside, you’ll sample a carefully curated selection of wines, each sip telling the story of the land and the tradition behind it. The moment invites you to slow down, linger, and take in the peaceful surroundings. And of course, there’s always time to pick up a bottle or two, letting you bring a taste of Tuscany back home.

Departure day

As departure day arrives, your UnGuide will be there to ensure everything goes smoothly. From helping with checkout to handling the return of your rental car, we’ll take care of the details so you can focus on your journey ahead.

Wine tasting in a vinyard - Priego de Cordoba

Montalcino, Italy - Tuscany

Perched on a scenic hilltop, Montalcino is a charming town with roots stretching back to Etruscan times and a history that solidified around 1000 AD. Its medieval character is beautifully preserved, with its thirteenth-century walls still standing strong. Today, Montalcino is celebrated for its world-renowned Brunello wine, crafted from the fertile lands that surround it.

Stroll through the pedestrian-friendly center, where narrow streets are lined with boutique shops, inviting restaurants, lively cafés, and cozy wine bars. On Fridays, the open-air market brings a burst of local flavor, and the museum of sacred art offers a glimpse into the town’s rich heritage. Climb the tower of the fourteenth-century fortress for panoramic views of the rolling Tuscan landscape, or explore the basement cantina for a taste of local wines.

Staying in the countryside outside Montalcino puts you in the heart of the Tuscan wine belt. Traditional farm life thrives, with artisans crafting pottery, small restaurants serving up authentic Tuscan fare, and hidden parish churches adorned with stunning frescoes.

Located about 40 minutes south of Siena and 90 minutes from Florence, Montalcino is perfectly positioned for exploring nearby treasures. Day trips might include the historic hill towns of San Gimignano, Pienza, and Montepulciano, the Etruscan sites of Volterra and Cortona, the natural beauty of Mt.
