Rossella

Amalfi Coast UnGuide - Italy

Though born in Naples, Rossella's heart belongs to Ravello on the Amalfi Coast, where her mother is from and where she spent weekends and summers with her family, grandparents, and relatives. Since 2009, she has been sharing her deep love for this stunning region with UnTourists, describing herself simply as "a happy girl. I'm a positive person and I try to enjoy life and spread joy." What Rossella enjoys most about her role is "giving all my help for guests visiting our area and seeing how sometimes they become friends in the distance. I try to share all the good things from Amalfi!" She also appreciates the UnTours team, noting they are "very communicative, sociable and professional."

When asked about her favorite highlight from her destination, Rossella finds it difficult to choose just one: "Not easy to tell because the entire Amalfi coast is really beautiful. However, my favorite places are the town of Ravello and all the mountains! In fact I love hiking and I also love boat trips." For hidden gems that visitors might miss, she recommends "the hamlet of Torello in Ravello" and suggests boat trips "to be able to enjoy the Mediterranean sea and also restaurants located by the Coast."

The Amalfi Coast comes alive with special events throughout the year, and Rossella enthusiastically describes several. Christmas is magical, when "between December 22nd and January 6th the streets have colored lights and the nativity scenes come to life. The New Year's Bands cheer up locals and tourists, a fun folklore tradition that is deeply felt by the locals." Easter features "the evocative procession on Good Friday where the whole town is in darkness at the moment of the procession." She also highlights the Regatta of the Ancient Maritime Republics, "a sporting event of historical re-enactment" on the first Sunday of June, where four cities—Amalfi, Pisa, Genoa, and Venice—compete with rowing crews on galleons, preceded by a historical procession through the streets.

For visitors hoping to blend in with locals, Rossella offers practical advice about following the local recycling system, which "are not the easiest to understand, because we have 5 types of trash and we can only take out garbage in specific days." What she wishes more people knew about her region? "Of course the history and the people that made all that history."

Through Rossella's enthusiastic guidance, UnTourists not only discover the breathtaking vistas of the Amalfi Coast but also connect with its rich cultural heritage and the warmth of its people—experiencing this world-famous destination with the insight and appreciation of a true local.
