UnFluencer

Raised in the US but now calling the Netherlands home, I left my teaching career to embrace my passion for travel and share my adventures on my blog, Rachel’s Ruminations. My writing focuses on independent travel to historical sites, capturing the essence of each experience. Occasionally, I also write about my life as an expatriate. As an UnTours UnFluencer, I aim to highlight the real and meaningful aspects of travel.

I believe wanderlust is a genuine force driving people to explore, and slow travel amplifies the positive impacts of this desire. Unlike “fast travel,” slow travelers immerse themselves in local cultures, contributing more significantly to local economies and fostering cross-cultural understanding. Staying longer in a place encourages travelers to be more mindful of their actions and their impact on the environment and communities.

With UnTours UnFluencers, you get authentic insights from real travelers. Our content is honest, focusing on genuine experiences rather than just selling a destination. I'm tired of the repetitive “5 best X in Y place” articles that flood travel content today. They often lack a real voice and provide little useful information. Instead, I share where I’ve stayed, what I liked, and what I didn’t. My photos and videos showcase the beauty of the places themselves, not just me standing in front of them. Too much of Instagram is filled with influencers blocking the view of the incredible destinations they’re visiting. My goal is to let the place shine through.
