Riley Chervinski
I'm Riley, a storyteller for social good, passionate about sustainability, slow travel, ecotourism, and wildlife. I write about the crucial connection between tourism and conservation, and as an UnTours UnFluencer, I uncover hidden gems and champion sustainable travel that preserves and protects.
As a Canadian, my slow travels have led me to Tamale, Ghana, and Zanzibar, Tanzania. Beyond writing, I cherish time spent outdoors, innovative and inclusive conservation efforts, and community-driven, nature-based solutions.
For me, slow travel means immersing yourself in local cultures and experiences. Itβs about taking the time to truly explore a new place and actively engage with the local community, rather than rushing through a checklist of sights. By traveling slowly and intentionally, we can build meaningful relationships, learn about different cultures, and deepen our appreciation for the planet. Slow travel allows us to contribute positively to the world by respecting diverse lifestyles, bridging cultural gaps, supporting local businesses, and minimizing our environmental impact.
That said, slow travel is a privilegeβnot everyone has the time, money, or opportunity to spend extended periods in one place. My most enriching slow travel experiences have come from volunteering with local organizations founded and run by locals, allowing me to give back to the communities I visit.
