Wine & Food Sample Itinerary

Here are the activities that are included in the Provence Wine and Food UnTour. This is a sample itinerary. To keep group sizes small, the schedule may diverge, with events shifting to Tuesday.

Wednesday: Arrival in Provence, time to settle in and explore.

Thursday: UnTours afternoon orientation session, followed by traditional Provençal dinner.

Friday: Market tour, cooking class, and lunch with a local chef.
Explore the outdoor market of Carpentras and learn about seasonal produce. Visit the famous cheese shop and traditional butcher in town, and learn about the city’s history and architecture as you walk. Then enjoy a French cooking demonstration in a private home, preparing and enjoying three seasonal dishes, along with drinks. (with a second alternative group on Monday if needed, touring Bedoin market, to keep group size small)

Saturday: Morning tasting tour of Avignon with free time to explore in the afternoon.
This guided walking tour of historic Avignon includes stops in some of the best small, local shops and bakeries to taste croissants, chocolates, coffee, and fougasse. There is a wine tasting, and then a visit to Les Halles that includes a savory tasting of tapenade, sausage, cheeses, breads, and seasonal fruit. Groups size of up to 12 people. Sunday: Time to explore on your own.

Monday: Private wine tour and tasting.
Join our private winery tour, which includes transport by van with small groups of 7-8 people. Visit the cellars of 3 wineries near Beaumes de Venise, Gigondas, and at Châteauneuf du Pape. Meet the winemakers! Along the way you will learn about the local varietals, winemaking traditions in the area, and the taste profiles of the region’s wines. (with a second alternative group on Friday if needed, to keep group size small)

Tuesday: Time to explore on your own. (Or possibly the Avignon Tasting Tour, to accommodate a second alternative session to Saturday and keep group size small.)

Wednesday: Depart for home, or relax and stay another week.

Please note that this schedule is subject to change at any time, based on number of participants, availability and season.

Also, guests will drive themselves in their UnTours rental car on all activity days except for the wine tasting; on the wine tasting day, they will drive to a local meeting point and join UnTours transport for the tasting tour.
