Saint Hippolyte, France - Alsace, Home of La Cour 2
At the foot of the Vosges Mountains and castle Haut-Koenigsbourg lies this sleepy old village the core of which is 3 parallel streets cut by side streets and alleys between half-timbered houses. The northern most and perhaps quietest of our wine route villages, St. Hippolyte is still completely surrounded by its wall. Inside the wall, you will be charmed by the double square of its town hall and 14th century gothic church and flower decked fountain dating from 1555. This is the 2nd place where Alsatian red wine originates---Rouge de Saint Hippolyte (a pinot noir) and an excellent place to sample it. A nice break from the well worn tourist path would be a meal at the typically Alsatian restaurant Hupsa Pfannala. It’s building has been in use since 1506. There is a wonderful bakery on the square and other restaurants in town.

Reviews
Here's what our guests have to say
Debra Berndt
Generally a nice apartment in an old winery... Although our apartment in St. Hippolyte had uncomfortable furniture, we liked its setting with a courtyard where we socialized each evening with others staying in the complex. And our landlady was very nice, helpful, and spoke decent English.
Marie Wolf
The apartment was spotlessly clean--so much so that it made me want to go home and clean my house so it would be up to snuff (not that I ended up doing that, of course). I really appreciated the wine and excellent cheese that were in the refrigerator, as well as the more basic coffee, butter, and milk. The beds were a little too hard for my comfort, and we couldn't connect with the internet unless we went outside (not always convenient when it was raining). Otherwise, it was comfortable and convenient.
