This week, as you explore the charming towns and countryside, you’ll feel the calm, sun-soaked rhythms of Provençal life. History will come to life through the region’s architecture, food, and timeless landscapes.

Settle into your rental car and enjoy the scenic drive through Provence’s rolling hills, dotted with vineyards and lavender fields, until you arrive in the peaceful countryside near Pernes-les-Fontaines. This idyllic area will be your base for the next seven days. Throughout your stay, Anne, your UnGuide, will ensure that your Provence trip itinerary is adjusted to suit the best days and times to discover the exciting experiences ahead. Here is a taste of the  activities that will be included in the week:

Orientation meeting to discuss the week's highlights

Kick off your Provence experience with a welcoming orientation meeting at a charming local restaurant, nestled in a beautiful garden. Here, your UnGuide will share important details about your week ahead, including what’s included, suggestions for day trips, free-time exploration, and personalized insights to help you dive deeper into Provence.

As you gather around the table, savor the flavors of the day with a lunch featuring fresh, local ingredients crafted into delicious Provençal cuisine. This meal not only showcases the culinary delights of the region but also sets the tone for the week to come. After your meal, take some time to soak in the garden ambiance or chat with your fellow travelers. It’s a wonderful opportunity to connect and prepare for the adventures that await in this enchanting corner of France.

Côtes du Rhône wine tasting experience

After a leisurely morning to take in the beauty of the area, join your UnGuide for an afternoon day trip in the stunning Côtes du Rhône region. With your guide behind the wheel, you can relax and immerse yourself in the experience, tasting superb local wines, and learning about the winemaking process and the rich history that shapes each bottle.

Your wine adventure begins with a drive through the breathtaking Dentelles de Montmirail, a jagged mountain range known for its unique limestone formations and rich biodiversity. The scenery here is spectacular, with rolling vineyards and the promise of exquisite wines awaiting you.

As you arrive at your first winery, your UnGuide will share insights into the intricate classification system that defines the wines of this renowned region. You’ll visit three carefully selected wineries, where you can indulge in tastings of local varietals crafted from the region’s sun-drenched grapes.

When you return to Pernes-les-Fontaines around 7 PM, you’ll be filled with delightful memories and ready to savor a leisurely evening.

Flavors of Avignon

Prepare your palate for a delightful half-day food experience through the heart of Avignon. With around ten tastings to savor throughout the morning, there is no need for a heavy breakfast.

You’ll meet your UnGuide at a charming spot near the Rhône River, setting the stage for a gourmet adventure that celebrates the region’s culinary heritage. As you stroll through the picturesque streets, your local expert will introduce you to the distinct flavors of Provence, taking you to artisan shops to sample an array of regional delicacies.

From the rich and creamy cheeses of the surrounding countryside to the sweet, sun-dried tomates confites, each tasting highlights the vibrant produce that Provence is known for. You might enjoy local specialties such as tapenade, a savory olive spread, and pâté, a rich meat dish, alongside freshly baked pain de campagne. Your guide will also share stories of Avignon’s culinary traditions and rich history, providing insights into the region’s gastronomic culture.

As the tour wraps up around 1 PM, you’ll have the afternoon to explore further on your own, perhaps visiting the iconic Pope’s Palace and its serene gardens.

Provençal Cooking Experience

Deep dive into the flavors of Provence with a hands-on cooking lesson led by a talented local chef, renowned for his passion and expertise. You’ll begin your culinary adventure at a local market, where your chef will guide you through the vibrant stalls, showcasing the season’s freshest produce. As a “Taste Ambassador” recognized by a prestigious gastronomic association, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, sharing his best techniques and Mediterranean recipes.

After gathering the finest ingredients, you’ll head to a charming kitchen in Cavaillon, where the real magic happens. This experience combines demonstration and participation, allowing you to roll up your sleeves to take part in the cooking process. Under your chef’s watchful eye, you’ll learn to prepare a selection of authentic Provençal dishes, all while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow food enthusiasts.

At the end of the lesson, indulge in the delicious meal you’ve crafted together, celebrating your newfound skills and the wonderful flavors of the region. This memorable culinary experience will leave you with both a full belly and lasting memories.
