Fifty years ago, UnTours began with a simple, slightly radical idea: travel could be a force for good. What started with Hal Taussig and a handful of travelers in Switzerland grew into a people-powered movement rooted in community, curiosity and care. Over five decades, we’ve wandered cobblestone streets, shared kitchen tables, learned from local UnGuides and proven that traveling differently can actually change the world. Along the way, we became the world’s first Certified B Corporation. Today, we commit 100% of our profits to social and environmental change.

The People of UnTours

Our 50th anniversary is a year-long celebration of the humans behind the journey: UnTourists who return again and again, UnGuides who make places into homes, team members and investees who keep purpose at the center and communities who welcome us in. We’re honoring where we’ve been, yes, but we’re also looking ahead with excitement and pride. Because the next 50 years of meaningful travel won’t be built on nostalgia alone. They’ll be built on people, connection and the belief that how we travel matters just as much as where we go.
