Las Terrenas Beach Getaway

Bienvenido/a a la República Dominicana! Welcome to the Dominican Republic! Your private driver will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your Las Terrenas beach rental. It’s just over a 2-hour drive through scenic mountains, quaint villages, and peaceful countryside, giving you a glimpse of the real Dominican Republic.

Arriving into Las Terranas is a real treat. The final 30 minutes of the drive includes sweeping views of the coast and the stunning mountains. You won’t want to sleep through this! Your UnGuide will meet you for an orientation session shortly after you arrive, or the following morning. Until then, it’s not that hard to navigate! The beach is within walking distance of all of our lodging options in the area. Hit the coastline and turn left along the brick-paved beach road to find the quieter and more beautiful sections, or stop for drinks or snacks at the handful of restaurants and food shacks along the way.

Our usual included UnTours activity in Las Terrenas is a hike to the majestic El Limón Waterfall. The trail takes you through lush tropical forest, filled with the sounds of native birds and the rich scent of rainforest vegetation. Along the way, you’ll see vibrant orchids, towering trees, and perhaps catch glimpses of local wildlife. The hike provides an invigorating journey to the impressive waterfall itself. While the hike and waterfall are truly special, we add our unique UnTours touch by including a visit to a local village, where you’ll gain insight into the rural lifestyle in the Dominican Republic and enjoy sampling authentic traditional treats and local coffee. This combination of natural beauty and cultural connection makes for a memorable experience.

You’ll hear the vibrant sounds of Caribbean music — bachata and merengue — playing from shops, homes, and streets throughout the Dominican Republic. This is a country that truly loves its music and dancing, where the rhythms are as much a part of daily life as the sun and sea. The basic steps of these two popular Dominican dances are simple enough for beginners to learn, but only practice will help you move with the effortless style of a local. Whether you’re tapping your feet or stepping onto the dance floor, experiencing bachata and merengue is a joyful way to connect with the island’s lively culture.

The rest of your week is easy. Wake up, drink some amazing local coffee, go for a morning walk on the beach, eat, relax, and maybe pop into town for some shopping or a meal. You can walk to town, but there are ample taxis or motorcycle taxis to call on if you’d prefer a ride.

It will be the departure day, and your UnGuide will assist with anything that you need for the check out and your private driver will return you to the Santo Domingo airport.
