Riverside

Beautiful bi-level apartment in a historic building

Stay in Scottish Highlands

In a stunning position on the banks of the River Ness, this bi-level townhouse apartment dates back to the 1860s and enjoys unique views across the river.

The well-appointed and comfortable vacation rental is located in a former church, close to all the city’s amenities. It has been furnished to a high standard, with wooden flooring on the upper level.

The lower floor is made up of a hallway and a bedroom with a king bed and ensuite bathroom (with tub and separate shower). The bathroom can be accessed from the bedroom and the hallway. A second toilet is upstairs.

Thirteen steps lead to the second floor where the open-plan living room/kitchen overlooks the river and cityscape. The well-equipped kitchen comes with a fridge-freezer, stove, dishwasher, microwave, and washer. The dining table seats four, and the comfortable leather couches will provide welcome comfort after a day’s exploration. In keeping with the historic nature of the building, the apartment is decorated with fascinating prints of old Inverness. There is Wi-fi and a smart TV. A selection of books on Scottish topics is provided.

Quality restaurants and welcoming pubs are only a few steps away, and the center of the city is just across the iconic pedestrian bridge. The closest supermarket is less than five minutes walk and the bus and train stations are 7 to 10 minutes walk.

You may find a free parking spot right outside the building, but the owners also provide a parking permit.

Inverness, UK - Scottish Highlands, Home of Riverside

Inverness is known as the Highland Capital. With its 47,000 inhabitants, it’s the northernmost city in the UK and an ideal launching point for touring the Northern and Central Highlands. Fortunately, it is also a pleasant city to wander and explore. Bisected by the River Ness flowing from Loch Ness to the south, the city’s numerous church spires dot the riverbank. The city’s center has many shops, restaurants, and pubs along with a Victorian era and a modern shopping mall, either of which prove useful in the event of an unexpected shower. Local residents enjoy the Ness Islands as a tranquil park in the midst of the bustling town.

Traditional music lovers will appreciate the scene in Inverness that includes nightly sessions at the central Hootananny pub. History buffs will enjoy a reflective walk at the Culloden battlefield where one of Scotland’s most important and tragic conflicts took place. The Inverness Museum and Art Gallery will bring anyone up to speed on the region’s natural history along with showcasing the rich cultural background of the Highlands.

Inverness has train connections to the Thurso and Wick in the North; Kyle of Localsh in the West; Aberdeen to the East; and Stirling, Glasgow, Edinburgh, London to the South. Inverness has public buses in many directions. Private tour buses leave from central Inverness for the Isle of Skye, the Whisky Trail, Loch Ness, and other destinations.
